It’s always nice to have something to write about. I had an epiphany this morning. I had this project for AP Lit and the assignment was to create some sort of presentation that eminated a theme of your choice. You had to include certain literary devices relating to that theme and I thought tumblr would be my greatest inspiration in my endeavour. I looked up fashion quotes and one of them, well actually several of them, but this one especially, really resonated with me and literally brought my mood up. That’s the healthiest way to start your day. However I feel in the morning always foreshadows the day ahead.
“I don’t do fashion, I am fashion”
Coco Chanel couldn’t have said that without the utmost confidence in herself. She must have felt so passionate about not only fashion, but life. The simple belief that you can do it can mean so much more than an elementary cliche. I was totally inspired to become a fashion journalist. I could even delve into being a stylist after my journalism career takes off. Who knows where fashion will lead me….I mean life.
“I am attracted to people who make this effort in knowing what suits them - they are individual and stylish.”
It has been said that your first love never dies. I’ve always been involved with mine. Fashion is everywhere, so how could I shy away from something so beautiful? I just feel like fashion loves me back. It’s definitely a weakness of mine. I can’t control myself when there’s a shoe sale within my reach. At the same time, fashion gives me strength. It’s something that makes me step back and say, “damn…I’m good.” I walk around sometimes as if I’m in a fashion show. My held high, but mind you my nose is not in the air!
“Dressing up. People just don’t do it anymore. We have to change that”
I always hear girls talking about how they wouldn’t dare dress up that much for school because well, it’s just school. I didn’t know fabulousity was limited to certain places. Now that’s not what fashion is about! It’s about immortalizing your own style, not being afraid of what others will say in the even that you look a little too fancy. I put an effort into my appearance whenever I go out, regardless of where I’m going because, as Coco Chanel so eloquently put it, you never know when you might have a date with destiny. One must look pretty for destiny!
“I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny.”
Well my darlings, I hope you haven’t misconstrued my self-empowerment for a materialistic outlook. I’m merely expressing my love for something that has been with me ever since I was a little girl dressing up my Barbie dolls. I can’t help but want to spend the rest of my life with something that is already a part of me.
